Protecting your email and IP is critical to effective DDOS mitigation!

Very often attackers will use DNS tools to find your web sites real IP by searching your domains MX records and launching an attack on your MX record IP. Attacks of this nature can still cripple a web site by overwhelming the server with requests because most MX records us the main server IP...thus bringing down your server.

 

When this happens the only option is to re-IP your server or site and even then the attacker will most likely find the new IP and repeat the attack.

 

We highly recommend all clients use a 3rd party MX record / email service like Google Apps, RivalMail Pro, etc.

Regardless of what service you use the ultimate and most critical goal is to off-load email from your server so it cannot be attacked.
